First of all? JUMPING JEHOSAPHAT are you kidding? Is this what you're sposed to do to a poor, confused, lovesick growing woman whose heart and body may have defied a patriarchal None shalt cross thine 'giner 'fore Your Owner Husband?' If anything, the kid needs her family more than ever. But NOPE! Gotta keep that 'Dub headcount as high as possible! That radioactive Sin Dust™ emanating from your now-unholy opening (only one, mind you--Dad's not gettin' blown, nor is Mom fingering any pucker holes) is apparently more contagious than the Zika virus.

Second, did you hear that 'I never thought of my parent's pain' shit??? Yeah, couldn't hear that over her OWN selfish thoughts. Like whose couch is she surfing on next or where her next warm meal's coming from. Good thing there's a couple old flat panels sitting in my closet. I damn near punched my screen. Oh BOO HOO poor US from behind four walls and a roof and all. Never more than forty feet from a KITCHEN, unlike your child. Maybe if she was chain-smoking spliffs and whiffing spent roaches at her kid sister. But just cuz you won't drink the 'Dub Kool-Aid?

That's how Dubs 'think,' you see. The Whole World Revolves 'round Them. Nay, the Universe. If J-God and Jeebus and the Satan are all arm-wrassling Day In, Day Out for each and every J-Dub soul, well...this is an easier delusion.


And how the FUCK are they not going to answer her phone call--Hideous 'Wordly' Sinner or not? Even if they have differences of faith? You can't pick up and ask Are you safe? Are you in danger? Are you breathing? Are you employed? K-gotta-go-BYE?? That Bible they thump says it's sin to ignore OTHER PEOPLE'S FARM ANIMALS IN DISTRESS (Deut 22:4) but once your two-legged flesh and blood is put out by 'Dub elders? Well, fuuUUUUCK that.

Call me crazy--okay, call them crazy--but these same people published a tract called Guilting Your Sinner-Family Back to the 'Dubs or something less than two years ago. Guess that didn't work out so great. Oops.

Part of this is just so hard to relate to, I have a hard time taking it seriously. Simultaneously, I KNOW that these attitudes are out there, causing real harm to people on a regular basis. ughhhhhhhh. I don't think there was a single piece of this that I could even remotely agree with at all

(unlike this "marriage is great" article from 1941 that I was reading at work yesterday -- at least THAT woman was telling menfolk that they needed to LEARN TO COOK & contribute around the house & let their wives have a job. But now? This clip essentially recommends that ALL parents do it unless the kid puts on an astonishing display of weeping and groveling and begging their way back to 'Dubland.

That is simply... As a parent, I can't imagine how you turn your teenaged child out of the house and maintain a no-contact policy. Children forced to leave their home and utterly cut off by their parents don't wind up in pretty third floor walk-up apartments, staring sadly out the windows of their tidy kitchens, realizing their parents were oh, so correct, and that total lack of contact is a tough love measure meant to bring them back to the fold. No. They wind up in homeless shelters, or being trafficked for sex, or, if they're very, very lucky, in the homes of school friends where their J-Dub parents' ways are NOT getting validated at all, and if they are very unlucky, they wind up in mental facilities, jail, or graves. But I'm preaching to the choir here.

Also? There is definitely no better way to ensure someone never comes back to you or your religion than displaying not an ounce of understanding, compassion, mercy, and acceptance.

I'm so, so glad you got the hell out of that religion, and away from your family. I do know how very much it can hurt not to have a past that lives in a healthy way in your present, and how it hurts to be cut off from your family, but I am SO GLAD you are truly saved -- from that.
