Valleyfair, Valleyfair, Valleyfair.
May. 30th, 2006 08:30 amLP is going to ValleyFair today with her classmates. Yay.
Only she just went yesterday already.
And the day before.
Or is that Six ValleyFlags over Minnesota?
We walked in 3:00 on Sunday not only to find Wild thing closed (no shock) but the Wave down with mechanical difficulties. We strolled past--hot and dry--to find the Riptide riders stuck in their seats as the platform wasn't moving into position, Power Tower down with little issues of its own, the nearby 25 cent cotton candy stand closed and only one arm of the Xtreme Swing functioning. All at once.
Add to that two new corporate restaurants that somehow weren't closed (Panda Express, Ben and Jerry's) and it made you wonder...which park are we at again?
At least the waterslides were good. Actually, Xtreme Swing had been through a few adjustments, too. It was a MUCH better ride than opening weekend. For that matter, they even had the Raging Rapids slide open on schedule--for the first time since at least 2003.
But it's still oddly quiet without the roar of the Wild Thing. We're far too accustomed to hearing riders scream, the train roar and the midcourse brakes killing all the ride's momentum. Not to mention it leaves the park with only one coaster you couldn't find at a park half its size.
Ah, well. Can't have everything, I guess.
