The weekend in Yay and Boo
Aug. 4th, 2008 11:11 amBiggest Boo: No Babies. The ex wanted to juggle around the weekends this month, and I didn't see any reason not to.
Second-biggest Boo: The ex had some kinda crisis blow-up phone call Saturday morning, more than likely involving some argument with one of 'em. I was at work and couldn't be at their beck and call. Apparently, they worked it out, because I never heard from anyone again...but who needs a little-boy-who-cried-wolf 911 call? If it's an emergency, lemme know. If not, DON'T BUG ME. Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight?
Third biggest-boo: Friday night at VF. We decided to catch one last Renegade ride before catching the new(?) Friday night fireworks. We got in line a bit after 9:30 and the line extended slightly outside the train storage building. WE NEVER SAW THE FIREWORKS.
That is absolutely ridiculous, even with a single train. I thought coaster crews were supposed to be the best of the best in the park. Not this one! I don't know if I've ever witnessed a crew this poor. One of the checkers--mind you, only one--got a little hustle in his step, but only after the height checker left to post the 'ride closed' sign across the entrance. The other? Whistling, kinda shuffling around, clearly didn't give a whiff how quickly anyone got loaded on the trains. Of course, HE'D stop checking belts to stoop a bit and watch the fireworks show the park was putting on for the GUESTS WHO'D BE IN FRONT OF THEM WATCHING ALREADY IF YOU WEREN'T SUCH A SLUFF-OFF.
Biggest yay: Brenda's date night, which honestly deserves a post of its own. She took me back to Macaroni Grill, which she suspected I was avoiding. I picked something better off the menu this time. Last time, I ordered a dish with vodka sauce, only to remember...hey I used to make vodka sauce! Only mine was somewhat better. Then there was the overly, overly friendly waitress and--yeah, I suppose I was avoiding them.
After which we went to Centennial park and walked around for a bit. I'll have more to say about it after I download some shots from my phone.
Second biggest yay (but close): Bunky Beach on Sunday. More specifically, Bunky Beach on a slightly cooler day with a VERY nasty sky overhead. That scared enough people away for some wickedly awesome tube-surfing. I don't think I've a day that good since a very cool day day in 2004 when I came to the pool in a wetsuit. The waves was set to 'killer', the shallows were (mostly) wide-open, I revised my riding strategy a twitch and we probably got as many wild ones as we've had all year combined.
So how was your weekend?
