Meanwhile, 'Bout a Year Ago...

No sports on (worth mentioning) 'till tomorrow and another 10-hour day sans lunch or breaks soOOOOOoo I think I'll lay on the couch and try some more Jessica Jones.

I know, I know. Wayyyy behind on telly. Always am. Too busy killin' it at that annoying little thing called Real Life, tho. If you knew how many months late we are with the used-to-be-good cable series (Homeland, Masters of Sex) you'd spoil everything as an act of mercy.

Anyway, on to a brief summary of good things!

Jessica Jones has out-and-at-it lesbians and interracial...well, you know. They don't make love. They don't have sex. They Fuck It On DOWWWWWN. People who can't handle a Black Man Gettin' it can get the hell gone. LOVE THAT.

But much better than that--the Real World. 'Specially round Minnesota.

Minimum wage is $9 an hour which INCLUDES servers (unlike many states) and guess what? Unemployment is as low as it's been since Billy Bill Clinton. How low? So low, they're even hiring black men to entry-level jobs. So low, there's marginally capable folks at the registers at Kohls in the South 'Burbs. Call me strange. Maybe no one else sees it this way. But when people who can sort-of-to-barely hold it together are working? I'm thinking HELL YES. Cuz some of them will get accustomed to working longer hours and stick to it and graduate from a job coach and perhaps even get themselves promoted. That--in my opinion--is fucking bloody great.

At Valleyfair on Sunday? Our local, publically-traded corporate amusement park?
They had a Somali girl working the 'Guess Your Weight and Age' booth.
This job requires the worker to hold a microphone, stand in front of the booth and chat passersby up into playing the game.

There was something a bit different about her.
