Friday and Saturday, in Costumes

This is me, procrastinating and dreading my first outdoor half-marathon training run.
We'd had a cold snap, which is more or less essential for training.
The event will be late in the month, early in the AM.
Need to know how well my ColdGear/HeatGear combinations will work.

Except one of my extremely critical armbands--unbeknownst to me, or perhaps I'd forgotten--had become unusable. So I had to scrub the run.

Combined with a few other scheduling issues, this meant I had to train indoors again.
I did a bit of shopping and made some other changes. Note the huge awkward headset is gone.
Also the media armband's been replaced. Last year's more or less shredded my S3's screen.

Not my best run. I was 2:23 ish. At least recovery was smooth and I'd learned a bit more about the armband's specific peculiarities. The more known in advance, the less distracting it will be during an event.

Speaking of event prep...? My Deadshot costume's already here.

Something with the mask's a bit wonky. Not that I'll wear it while running anyway.
It's lightweight enough to wear for 13 miles tho. Which is very, very good.

More on this weekend later.

A Tale of Three Saturday Dinners

Once I got home from my half-marathon run, B was ready to get pierogis ready for Canadian Thanksgiving.

This was actually a tradition I'd started as soon as we'd met and she reached for a half-dozen frozen ones come Canadian Thanksgiving. Since I was already proficient (or kinda) with my own pastas, why couldn't we make pierogis, too?

And that's how it's been, ever since.

Since this was MY great idea, I work the dough.

B works on potatoes.
See that towel on her shoulder?
That means she's doing things.

Rolling is a dough-related task.

So is cutting. Those are my duties.

Everybody fills and seals.

Except that one, which was handed to B while she heard, "I'm just too lazy" from me.

B does all the boiling and next-day frying.

After that? We cleaned up the kitchen and drove across town to Freddie's in Shakopee.

They have these miraculous burgers which are all hard-fried edges.
And chili fries. And onion rings. And Nutter Butter ice cream sammiches.
And maybe a pumpkin pie concrete.

But then we'd COMPLETELY forgotten the Cave Cafe would be at Valleyfair during Halloween Haunt. AND that the owner remembers who I am and is willing to make an off-menu extra spicy curry for me.

B understood. Or at least she did while I handed her some of the bread on the side.
