Mourning Our Losses
So we went to Valleyfair last night and renewed our season passes. $144 with tax for two people.
Brenda asked why we'd bother; I reminded her we'd probably not get mad on our first 2-3 visits.
Which would comprise enough visits to pay for them.
Besides, they'd hand us front-of-line ride passes for a night. Which I thoroughly abused.
I'm not going to discuss Valleyfair's Halloween this post.
Because I can't without mourning what we've lost.
1) JO. And the Asylum.
Totally understand a move away from mental-health related horror themes BUT Jo? Best performer in the house. Didn't need a major gimmick. Didn't need props. Didn't need intimidating physical size. Just one woman and her rapid-fire mouth. Nobody could shut a shitty little middle-schooler asshole's mouth with as much authority and flair. Even more impressive when you consider personal insults aren't allowed.
Additionally, they replaced that maze with--nothing. There's a new 'attraction' this year that isn't a maze at all--but that doesn't replace Mangler Asylum. It replaced the perenially awful London Terror.
Ah, for 2013ish when Big Baby was wearing an adult diaper, slapping his belly and calling me MC Hammer every week. While the Wheelchair Guy was scaring the living (bleep) out of everybody. We'll never have those days again.
A Close Second - The loss of The Fourth Ring.
Whodathunk a publicly traded, family amusement park would have the (taped-down) balls for a campy drag show...?
