Films like this--'American Made' with Tom Cruise--demonstrate part of the problem with America and race and perception and punishment.
See, the white guy SUPPLYING the drugs is lionized. He gets to be a legend. Portrayed by Tom Cruise. And Dennis Hopper. And Michael Pare. AND a couple more times on TV movies. Meanwhile, the little African-Americam street dealers selling a teensy fraction of the same product gets demonized, prosecuted under 'three strikes' laws and put away for life without parole by the tens--if not hundreds--of thousands at time.
Yet another example that it's Not The Same America for us.
