The Wally Trade: Any questions?
Wally's always been Wally, ya know?
When asked to recite the alphabet, he says, "A-B-C...Me...E-F...Me?"
When he runs downcourt after scoring a shot, he always hears the crowd chanting: Fense! Fense! And while he's looking in the stands, wondering why that rat-bastard 'Fense' gets all the love, the other team's 2-man is swinging from the rim.
Yup, that's Wally! He's always been two things:
1) A defensive liability who's always looking for his shot
2) A third-best scoring option
His 'breakout' season wasn't about Wally being good, it was about the usual (and necessary) second-best option's absence. When the game got tight, the opponent always knew they could burn him when it counted.
Ricky Davis can play third-best offense AND the D Wally won't. Or can't.
And now Wally can still be the star of his own personal planet...while being somebody else's problem.
Bye-bye, Wally. Buh-bye!
