'Dressed too nicely' and other clothing conundrums

From the 'Dood, you are such a GIRL' file: Among the reasons I was an hour late for work today? I had to buy a belt that went with my outfit. And yes, this involved the shoes I bought last time I felt I needed more accessories.

Then I had to walk through a gauntlet of 4-5 Fearsome Forty-Something female co-workers while leaving to move my car.

Them: Rrrrrrrrrrr. Man-meat.
Me: Oh, yikes!

Unfortunately, a lot of my good shirts from my last wardrobe overhaul have been coordinated with pants that match perfectly and yes, even shoes. But once they do? They pass from my active wardrobe into this limbo called 'Too Nice To Wear Today.' Oh, no no no you can't wear THAT. Much too nice. Wear something kinda okay.

Then I can't wear them unless I'm doing something special...only THEN I can't wear them either. If I dress like that for a first date, it could be intimidating for the girl. If I'm on one of those rare clubbing nights, dressing perfectly flares up all my latent perfectionist tendencies and then I'll expect too much of the evening and...

*gets smacked in head with pole*
