The bestest Father's Day EVER
Jun. 19th, 2006 09:31 amNo, it wasn't yesterday...tho I will get to the highs and lows later.
The greatest Father's Day ever was had in 2004.
The ex and I were at war with each other and she had successfully twisted LP's head (with a lil' misuse of religion) into believing she didn't want to see me any more. Of course, this was only at the price of sinking LP into a depression so profound she wouldn't even play with her sister. Ex and LP would both try to screw with Da Midget's mind in the same fashion. She wasn't having it.
But what was real eventually prevailed over what was contrived and silly. LP accidentally picked up the phone one day when I was calling. Walls fell quickly, things returned to normal and the first time I saw them in nearly four months was ALSO the last day of Valleyfair's season pass special that year was ALSO--you guessed it--Father's Day.

Remember Da Baby Dance?

Or what Da Midget said before her first Steel Venom ride?

Or what Da Midget was actually pointing at for her legendary Thumbs up shot?
(At least two other icons are from shots made that day)
I'll link you back to the full pictorial if you wanna look.
I completely forgot this happened Father's Day...save for the fact that Chica paid me an ambush visit yesterday. She got me on the phone after her church services, chatted me up for a few minutes, then said, "Guess what? I'm in your lobby." We were leafing through the photos together when I remembered. She misses her Dad quite a bit these days. So sad.
I actually spent most of Father's Day reworking Da Babies' room, which in itself was the culmination of a series of strange coincidences. It started with the bank giving me the wrong balance after an ATM deposit. I saw it, panicked and paid half the amount on my furniture bill I meant to pay. Nothing harm done--I owed $50 and paid $375--but I was upset that I didn't put all the cash on the bill as intended.
Who'd guess that later that night I'd came across this nice chest of drawers at Wally World? Da Babies have never had one worth mentioning. It looked nice on display, anyway--they didn't have any in stock. That turned into a wild goose chase which turned into the 'need' to buy stuff that matched and that turned into another desk and an end table that I'm gonna exchange for the media center instead.
Of course--since I didn't put all the money on the bills, I had cash to cover the new furniture. Yay. I'll take pics of their new room when everything's done.
Back to the Father's Day photos...
Amazing how things change, huh? I've gone from the ex's mortal foe to her confidante. All those people that were so 'great' now mostly make her crazy. And then there's the small but growing possibility all the custody issues may change dramatically. Whatever the case may be, summer will not end the way it began.
Stay tuned, I guess.
