So how was your weekend?
Jul. 7th, 2008 12:26 pmRelaxing? Slow as molasses? Long?
I put in about 18 hours of work over the 4th of July weekend, for a 58 hour workweek total.
But don't cry for me. Ohhhh, no. Don't do that. Cuz
A) I sure as hell got paid time-and-a-half on Job #1
2) Dare I call Job #2 work? Sure. Arduous work? Heh. No. Not really.
III) I believe in work hard, play hard in OT season
So Friday was a marathon of sorts. Get up early, put in five hours at the job, run my 5K, put in four-and-a-half hours at the wavepool, drive back to town and put another three hours in at the Taste of MN. Best part? Wavepool. Duh. Like you had to ask. After a couple dozen laps on the enclosed tube slide on an UTTERLY overloaded tube-for-two meant for kiddies....FLAMING down the slide, swerving insanely high off the banked walls (how's that for air, Brenda? Good? Good? :-P), slamming into the pool at the bottom and making freakish tsunami waves. Oh, man. I love Bunker Beach.
The low point was the Taste of Minnesota. Oh for the love of all things greasy! It was insanely packed. You might ask me what I'd expect in the evening on the 4th itself, but shoosh! That's not the point! I'm used to attending on an early weekday with no lines when I'm hungry. Lesson of the Day: If one of the food stalls has an insanely long line and the four or five surrounding it aren't very long? Take the long line. Immediately. Doesn't matter if you can't see what food's on sale and what it costs. You'll have plenty of time to figure that out Stand, wait, shut up and eat! There's a very good reason everybody's willing to wait.
Saturday was more of a low-key day, since I had Job #2 and Da Babies. Sunday was another work hard, run hard, play hard kinda day, the only difference being that play hard equalled ValleyFair. Midget joined Brenda and I for Raging Rapids Madness while LP didn't wanna get her hair wet. Oh, well. Stinks to be you on a 90° day. Almost literally!
There's a lot to talk about otherwise, but I'll have to get to it...go on, you know the word by now...later.
