Scenes from Summer 2008

Before I get started with this weekend's goings-on, perhaps I should finish with last weekend. So here's some pics from the Aquatennial. You know I can't miss my sandcastle fix!

Apparently, more of the beginners stuck it out this year with their creations...instead of kicking their castles over and running for the hills like several last year had. Entries like this make me feel like Da Babies and I should try our hand at it one summer.
And then, there are entries that give me pause.

It wasn't enough to merely build a castle...

...so I guess they had to sculpt a little on the back, too.

I thought this relief of swimmers amidst waves (look closely) was creative, imaginative and truly original for once. Brenda wasn't so impressed.

We both agreed this one was good.

Did Brenda really wanna go up his nose? I'm not entirely sure.

And then there were the obvious ones where you knew what they were sculpting.

Didn't make them any less good.
This was a copy of a promotional pic for the new Mummy movie.
There's a few more worth showing, but I'll get to them later.
