WOW.

We did not see The H8ful Eight in the theater. I did.
B went Tarantino film? NEWWWP you're on your own.

Mind you, she watched Django and was deeply moved. Very much so.

In the theater
Closing credits rolling

B: OH MY GOD I'M SO SORRY.
Me: Wha?
B: You've always told me never to call an African-American male over the age of ten 'boy.'
Me: Yeah? It's extremely offensive.
B: But I just realized WHY. HOLY--
*Smothering squash-hug ensues*
Me: Okay wait...hey! Come on!
B: Will you ever forgive me? *sniffle*
Me: Really? Not the Boo-Hoo Tears! We're in public!

But Kill Bill was a solid 'Hell no' and I couldn't even wrestle her down for Inglorious Basterds. Figuratively speaking, of course. But I digress.

The local "independent" free paper (yeah SURE they're indy--owned by the same corporation that publishes the Village Voice) declared H8ful Eight the most fully realized Tarantino concept since Bill...which honestly offended me. Whatsa matter? went the voices in my head. Slaves squaring up with 'owners' or Jewish-American soldiers stickin' it to the Nazis not good enough for you?

Gotta admit it. They were right.

While a latecomer to Tarantino films, this is far and away the best I've seen.

Spring for the 70MM Roadshow edition if it's available near you. It's a tribute to Film The Way It Used to Be. There's additional footage not available in the standard release AND perhaps another feature I don't feel at liberty to disclose.

Why are you still here? GO SEE IT.

You'd especially appreciate the 70MM roadshow.
The sound of a physical projector, the twitch of a momentary flaw that would only exist on physical media...if the roadshow's still on next week, I might go again.

I've heard really good things, actually. I was going to give it a pass (I can enjoy some of his work, but I cannot STAND the man, and he's been so whiny about Star Wars), but I'm fairly certain Boston has it on 70mm, so it's probably worth seeking it out soon.

I would call it the best film of 2015...except I viewed it January 2nd.

If it weren't specifically to be offensive one would never call a black man "boy" anyway. People would never do that with a white man.

Ben wants to see h8ful eight and I am going the Brenda route. He can go with his friends.

I love Tarantino! I will see this SOON, although I don't believe the 70 MM print is playing in my town (which is a shame, too, since there are two great old theaters that could project it so beautifully....)

Looks like tomorrow's the last day of the roadshow here. Boo.
Damn that Leo DiCaprio.
